Five Minute Friday |Teach
This post is part of the Five Minute Friday blog link-up. Where I join up with a community of writers and bloggers of all ages and stages who gather around a single word prompt to free-write, unscripted, unedited, for five minutes. This week’s prompt is {TEACH}
What a treat it is to write about the word teach. I’m filled with memories of my parents teaching me how to make traditional meals.
Halupki, bobalki with sauerkraut, pierogis, paska (Easter bread) and one of my all time favorites hrudka (Easter cheese).
My parents also taught me how to can food and bake bread. Okay, okay, so really, I just watched every time. Growing up, I really didn’t care much for learning how to make these things they were teaching me.
I digress, with the exception of making bread I’ve never made any of these other favorites of mine on my own.
And now, in mid-life, yes friends, I have to say I wish I would have learned how to make these things.
At a very early age, my dad taught me how to take care of our farm animals. Oh, how I loved to take care of them.
My mom taught me how to use a wringer washer which I became pretty good at. However, I can’t say the same for learning how to polka. Several relatives tried to teach me, but it didn’t turn out so well.
Oh, what a treasure I had strolling down memory lane.
